Droid Overlay Description

Droid Overlay is an open source project that aims to deploy a basic, yet functional version of the powerful Arch Linux distribution on top of an existing Android operating system. In other words, Droid Overlay is a project that injects Linux in Android without chroot. It provides a software repository with ARM builds of many base packages from Arch Linux. Users will be able to install unmodified Arch Linux ARM packages in chroot, without the need to install a full-blown Linux operating system. Droid Overlay also features FHS-compatible file tree, which will not overlap with Android’s file hierarchy, as well as up-to-date PKGBUILDs of C/C++ cross-compilers.
