Brushfire Description

Provides another way to use and navigate Brushfire report information Introduced with Brushfire 2.1 is a new Brushfire Object Browser ("BOB"), that provides an additional way to use and navigate Brushfire report information. The Brushfire engine is now generating two XML files containing overview information about your solution including a listing of every script, non-referenced object, relation, layout, field, error, and search-hit result. These XML files may be imported into the Brushfire Object browser, which is a completely open FileMaker Pro solution which allows you to navigate through and find references to your objects. Every listing includes dynamic links to the main Brushfire report so you can easily hop back and forth between the HTML detail views and the Filemaker Pro list views.Once the Brushfire Analysis is complete, there is a button in the main Brushfire list view that opens the Brushfire Object Browser. Each Brushfire Report has its own copy ofthe Brushfire Object Browser copied into the report directory. The first time you open a BOB, you will be prompted to Import the XML data that was created by the Brushfire Engine. The default settings presented shouldwork, though you can always repoint the import to a different report directory if you wish. The XSLT files for converting Brushfire_Summary.xml and Brushfire_Object.xml are included with the solution, and may make for interesting reading if you are a student of XML and FileMaker Pro.The Brushfire Object Browser consists of two FileMaker Pro files, and are both lightweight, simple and designed to be intuitive to use. There is a built-in help and full documentation of every field included.Import speed is also fast, as the XML and FMP data files were designed to be lightweight, and the purpose-built XSLT files are reasonably straightforward. The import of XML data for large solutions might take a minute; most solutions will import in just a few seconds.Brushfire 2 generates HTML report pages which rely heavily on Cascading Stylesheets for their formatting. The current version has stylesheets for Internet Explorer. The reports are visible in Safari and Netscape; however, the formatting is incorrect. On Mac OS X, the links from the Brushfire Object Browser make use of Applescript to force the use of Internet Explorer even ifyour default Browser is different.
