Molly Description

Molly - Dynamic web site architecture for the rest of us Molly is a system and architecture for building dynamic database-backed web sites easily using HTML and simple MAML (XML) tags. Molly is written in PHP and works with MySQL, ODBC, PostgreSQL, Oracle databases, and runs on OS X, Linux, and Windows.Where once a dozen or so HTML tags were enough to build a great web site, we now expect interactive, database-backed web applications. Real applications, with hundreds or even thousands of lines of code. The thing is, we've all been re-writing versions of the same code over and over, to solve the same problems in different contexts.Molly is an attempt to bring back simplicity to web site development. Molly is an open source system and architecture that allows web site developers to build dynamic web sites using simple HTML and MAML (Molly Active Markup Language) tags.Molly can be used to build web communities, content management systems, and portals. Simple MAML tags implement several features that facilitate the development of an active community of users. These include live conversations and conferences ("chat rooms"), calendars, news, user comments on any page, and many others.Molly is written in PHP, but no programming is necessary to build a Molly-based web site. Molly does all the hard work for you, and works with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or any ODBC database. Molly is modular and extendable, and under active development.
