API for performing date calculations that take into account working and resting period Workpattern is a free, open source and Ruby based tool that will help you to perform simple addition and subtraction of minutes on dates taking account of real-life working and resting periods.Workpattern has the potential to serve as the engine for scheduling algorithms that are the core of products such as Microsoft Project and Primavera as well as other applications that need to know what dates the can perform work on and what dates they can't. Here are some key features of "Workpattern": · Calculate the difference in minutes between two dates · Merge two Calendars together to produce a third. · Test if a Date is working or resting · Find the nearest working date (forwards and backwards) of a given date. · Find the nearest resting date (forwards or backwards) of a given date. · Handle the 23 hour and 25 hour days when the clocks change · Extract patterns so they can be persisted in a file or database. · Handle different timezones – we haven’t even looked at testing it with anything apart from the UTC on our environment!!!
