Learn to play and master chess like never before! Chess & Variations is built around a very powerful chess engine with multiple levels of difficulty for players of all skill levels. If you want to challenge yourself, or simply get tired of playing regular chess, you can take on any of three additional equally powerful engines that play with modified rules from different variations on classic chess. Chess & Variations features engines for these four variations: • Classic Chess • Cylinder Chess • Torus Chess • Progressive Chess In addition to the powerful engines in Chess & Variations, many 2D sets have been carefully constructed to allow players to play with the comfort of a preferred set. The user interface has also been modified to work well on both iPhones and iPod Touches, as well as the large screen of an iPad. The following sets are included in this version of Chess & Variations: • Standard 2D • Flatland 2D To accommodate those who like to play other humans, those who like to play the engines, and even those who like to watch the engines play themselves, many different modes of play have been included in Chess & Variations. These modes are available for all engines: • Human vs. Human - Single device, two players • Human vs. AI - Human is white, AI is black • AI vs. Human - Human is black, AI is white • AI vs. AI - An engine takes on itself For those new to chess or any of the variations, a useful help system is included with the game to teach the rules of each variation. If you need help in the middle of a game, the AI can show you all possible moves and help you pick the right one. For more skillful players, GameCenter adds to the challenge of chess by providing accomplishments for each variation. Whatever your interest in chess is, whether you are a beginning player or a master looking for a new challenge, Chess & Variations is sure to whet your appetite!
