If you are working for a shipping company or in the shipping department you've definitely came across that last "tricky" digit in container or tank container number - the Check Digit. It is a special digit that is being calculated by special formula and based on previous 4 characters and 6 digits. The idea behind it is to validate actual serial number for misspelling or other mistakes.
