EqSWG Description
The EqSWG application was developed to be a small tool that can found equivalent wire gauges. This is a simple software useful in electrical machine maintenance services like motors & transformer rewinding. Many times it is required to find thinner wire combinations in place of original wires for ease of winding. Or you may not have required wires for that coil in your inventory & you want to use wires from your inventory. In such case wires are used in parallel. To find such combinations where cross-sectional area of original wire and combined cross-sectional area of combination is same, this software can be used. It can give combinations in +/-0.5% tolerance in cross-sectional area. How to use? 1) In first form enter the wire gauge found in a burnt coil. For a coil with rectangular section enter thickness & width. 2) Enter no of parallel wires found & total weight of winding of burnt motor. If it is not possible to find out total weight, don't enter it, weight check will get disabled. 3) In second form enter available wires and their weights from which you wish to rewind a coil. Don't enter too many wires, you will get too many useless combinations. 3) Click next, you will get all equivalent combinations. If weight of any available wire is not sufficient for the coil, you will get a (*) mark against that wire. At the end of each combination you will get combined cross-sectional area of that combination. 4) You can take printout of selected or all combinations.
