In addition, HelpMe allows you to work with lists throught its text manipulation functions. HelpMe also has many other utilities to help you save on manual labor. And, what makes HelpMe truely great, is its user interface; its completly non-intrusive. The entire user interface is based on context-menus that are called by shortcut keys, or through its taskbar icon; allowing the application to work with ANY Windows application. Depending on your type of work, you could store, organize, or search SQL scripts, java code, vb.net code, server inventory, contacts, etc. Information can also be stored temporarily, for quick re-use and/or to create lists based on information gathered from the screen. The tool also has the ability to work on paragraphs of text (lists of text through its text manipulation functions). I had many more ideas for the tool, but it didn’t make sense to continue to build it on Visual Basic 6. However, this pilot program will tell me if there is a demand for the tool, at which time I will rewrite it with all the features I originally had in mind using Visual Studio and the .NET Framework. HelpMe has some basic Enterprise features, although the entire Enterprise package wasnt fully implemented: HelpMe has two databases. You can store encrypted information (like your credit card numbers) in the Personal database. You can also store other information that you wouldn't mind sharing with others in the Shared database. Data can be encrypted, with a fairly robust/standard Algorithm provided by the Windows Operating System. Data could be shared with others in the office with the use of a Microsoft SQL Database (ExPress, 2005/2008). A username and password is required to login Data is never deleted; only disabled All updates to your data are saved as an old version and kept in your database.
