Pros: Infoblox IPAM WinConnect LE freeware is a scaled down version of the Infoblox appliance offered by the Infoblox company. The appliance and the scaled down software version in turn are based on couple of technology offered by the company. The Infoblox NIOS delivers nonstop core network services—including DNS, DHCP, IPAM, RADIUS, TFTP, NTP and others—that are critical to the operation of all IP-based networks. While the patented Infoblox Grid technology links a collection of appliances into a unified, centrally-managed, core network services platform. At the grid’s foundation is a distributed database called bloxSDB with real-time data replication across all Infoblox member appliances. These together lets you get started on the path to automated IP address and subnet management (IPAM). You maintain a unified repository of IP address, subnets and asset information via a user-friendly and intuitive web GUI . The data normally being maintained on spreadsheets can be imported into the built-in database via CSV format. The Infoblox IPAM Winconnect LE helps with on-demand and scheduled discovery of IP devices. You could enter data manually too. IPAM data fields can have custom fields defined. Generate graphical subnet maps to help you administer the network better. Like the simple import of data, export of data also is simple enough. Report generation features rounds off the functionalities. Cons: This lightweight package really provides a foretaste of the actual product the appliance. What one would need is this appliance.
