MediaSanta FLV to AVI VCD SVCD DVD Converter is a Windows utility designed to turn Flash video files (FLV format) into AVI, VCD, VCD and DVD formats. It comes packed with a bunch of customization settings for more experienced users. Quick installation and simple GUI Setting up the application takes minimal time and effort. Its interface does not stand out from the visual point of view, but it is quite simple to work with. FLV clips can be added to the task list via the file browser only, since the drag-and-drop method is not supported. Configure output settings Batch processing is possible, though, which means you can work with multiple items at once to reduce overall task time. As far as output settings are concerned, you can point out the target directory and modify the output frame size, audio and video encoder, along with the audio sample rate. Additional conversion options focus on logging all activity (or just errors and debug info), CPU priority level (from idle to normal), video bit rate, audio sample rate and volume level, along with the video duration, since it is possible to convert only a part of the FLV by specifying the start and end time. The timestamp can be copied as well. Evaluation and conclusion The tool takes a reasonable amount of time to finish a task, during which it uses low-to-moderate RAM and high CPU. It has a good response time and created quality video files. No error dialogs were shown in our tests, since the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Unfortunately, it has not been updated for a while, and it's not the most intuitive video conversion utility out there.
