RSS Icon Description

RSS Icon is a handy extension that allows you to open the RSS feed detected on any web page by simply clicking the address bar icon. The add-on is designed to facilitate the access to the feeds available on the current page. RSS is a web standard designed to help website developers publish updates to the site content by providing users with blog posts and news articles. The published items can be accessed directly in the browser interface or by using a dedicated application. Although Firefox can handle feeds by loading them in a separate tab, you need to locate the feed link or icon in order to be able to open it. It might seem like an easy task but the design of certain websites makes it harder by putting the link in the last place that you would think to look. This add-on is able to detect the feed or feeds from a certain page and provide you with an icon conveniently placed in the address bar. By clicking on this icon, you can easily view the list of available links and select the one that you want to subscribe to. It requires no configuration and the button is displayed while the web page is loading. Unlike clicking on the link embedded in the page, the icon launches the RSS feed in the same tab which prevents you from opening additional tabs. If you find it difficult to search for the RSS link on the webpage and want to save time, the RSS Icon extension is a useful addition to your Firefox installation.
