The Uniform Server Description

Uniform Server is a lightweight yet powerful webserver that can handle more than you think. It’s a suit from the Apache, MySQL and PHP servers that can easily be used for production purposes and other situations you see fit. The server requires no installation as it comes prepacked to just be run immediately. It also displays a user-friendly interface that makes it accessible and comprehensive to you even if you are a beginner when it comes to use of webservers. It uses a straightforward approach that makes it a cinch to start the Apache and MySQL servers, as well as to configure them. While running, you can access a status screen that displays general information about the state and details of the Apache and MySQL servers. For both of the servers you can change either one or all the ports, as well as you can delete their associated log files. Uniform Server also enables you to add or remove password protection. You can enter a single password for the entire server or load values from a file but that requires that you edit the corresponding name-password configuration file. You can set these passwords to restrict access to your server from people that use both Intranet and Internet enabling a connection only through the local host. You are also able to grant selective access to Intranet users through the use of a username and password. In this way, you can grant access to specific databases and limit their privileges. Moreover, the server is also capable of using an encrypted SSL connection that prevents the leak of names and passwords over the Internet. Uniform Server is a practical solution for creating a web server that supports Apache2, PHP5, Perl5, phpMyAdmin and MySQL5 which also provides you with the functionality and security of larger webservers.
