Wocar Description

Wocar is an application designed to help you convert scanned files to text documents. It offers support for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and is capable of processing text files written in the English and French languages. After a brief and uneventful setup procedure, you are welcomed by a standard window with an uncomplicated structure, where you can get images from your scanner with the click of a button. It is also possible to open files from the computer or external drive, as long as they have the TIF, TXT, RTF or WDC (Wocar Dictionaries) formats, using either the file browser or drag-and-drop support. You can extract fonts and images, highlight possible errors and process noisy documents, as well as pick the used dictionary. More options of Wocar are capable of hiding the TWAIN user interface and invert scanned images. Plus, you may specify the negotiated scanning resolution (DPI), adjust the brightness level or switch to automatic mode, as well as enable smooth zooming and scrolling, among others. In addition, you can convert multiple TIFs at the same time to a text document, search and add words to the current dictionary, select another scanner source, use a search and replace function, and switch the GUI to full screen mode. Wocar has a minimal impact on the system resources, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and quickly finishes a conversion task. No error dialogs have been shown in our tests and the app did not hang or crash. Unfortunately, Wocar has not been updated for a very long time, and it is not supported by recent OS platforms.
