iX Screen Effects Description

OK, let's face it. The days are long since gone when anybody really needed screen savers to save their computer screen from the dreaded "burn in" or "Ghost image". Macintosh systems shut the Monitor Off to save energy and Improve screen life, and use other techniques to Prevent "burn in" on CRT systems. But screen savers are loads of fun, and if one pops up on your screen in an idle moment, or when the phone rings and you take your hands off the keyboard, they can be a pleasant distraction. And it turns out that they are kinda fun to make, too. Every so often one of our developers needs a distraction, so they make a screen saver, and when it's done, we drop it into the pack. Our pack of Screen Effects for Mac OS X includes original screen savers and our version of some classic savers, and even a couple that are down right "retro". Each screen saver has some sort of tunable options, because they are fun. iX Screen Savers are written in Objective C, using Cocoa and Quartz. A few saver, including Xirtam and BabelBloX, use OpenGL.
