Autoplay Pilot Description
The GST Autoplay Pilot is a small tool which was designed for those who want to bring up an HTML page when their CD is inserted in the CD-ROM drive. Just to be perfectly clear, our other products like the GST Autoplay Easel are designed to create a menu of selections on a dialog with some kind of graphic background. The user is allowed to select various operations like browse, help, tutorials, install and whatever. In contrast the GST Autoplay Pilot immediately invokes the HTML page of your choice on the user's default browser. This HTML page can be on the CD or on the Internet. GST Autoplay Pilot is very easy to use. Only three files are involved. Here is what they do. 1. AUTORUN.INF This file starts everthing off. It is what makes the autorun happen. It contains the following information. OPEN=autorun.exe ICON=autorun.exe These entries tell Windows to launch a program called AUTORUN.EXE when a CD is inserted into the CD-ROM drive. 2. AUTORUN.EXE This program reads the AUTOPP.INI file, launches the HTML page and then exits. 3. AUTOPP.INI This file tells the AUTORUN.EXE what to do. It has the following information. The following example would launch the INDEX.HTM on the root directory of the CD. LAUNCHFILE=index.htm The following example would launch the home page of GS Technologies on the Web. LAUNCHFILE=http://www.autorun-autoplay-tools.com In Summary, to make it work all you have to do is enter the name of your HTML file in the AUTOPP.INI and copy the files to the CD.
