Editor's review: BitComet is a powerful p2p file-sharing freeware fully compatible with Bittorrent (one of the most popular p2p protocol designed for high-speed distribution of 100 Mb or GB sized files). It is using a unique system. On the left side of the three-panel interface, you choose from a long list of Web pages that contain files you can download. Different sites offer different types of files, and the subject matter is usually apparent by the name. When you opt to download a file, a smaller file appears on your desktop, which you then open in BitComet. Then after a bit of a wait, the application aggregates users that have your requested file and starts a swarm download that gradually grows in sources and speed. You’ll be able to download enormous variety of files. The BitComet client offers chat capabilities, stats trackers, and the ability to bookmark your favorite sites. BitComet and the BitTorrent system are a great alternative to other file-sharing apps. And it is completely free to use. Well, there are always some minuses: some users were not happy with inbuilt browser and downloading speed. Well, what can I say – you always have a choice. For example, LimeWire or uTorrent.
