Job Finder Description
Editor's review: A tool to search multiple job websites at the same time. Pros: Job Finder is a tool designed to simultaneously query a number of job sites (CareerBuilder, Yahoo Hot Jobs, Dice and more). Search results can be stored for viewing and studying them offline. The user can set up Alerts and Notifications based on certain search criteria so that the next time there is a job matching this criteria, the user will automatically be notified. An email alert/notification feature means that you can be notified even when you are away from home. Interface is easy to use and it shows a top search results pane and a bottom pane which actually shows the highlighted listing. This makes the task of browsing through a number of jobs fairly efficient and is one of the best features of this product (along with the alerts/notification). Although you get duplicate results, because you can sort by category, sorting by title will at least enable you to see duplicate results easier than on some other similar tools. Cons: The limitation is that you get a number of duplicate results. The problem is alleviated somewhat by the job browse pane, where if one was to sort by title then one does get a sense of which ones are the duplicates and can therefore skip some results. It does not add any capability to the basic searching in that it does not allow searches by experience etc. Plus, you cant get around the fact that you still need to register and fill-out forms at all the websites that you get useful results from. So the reduction in time is marginal and this means that there is no great benefit in using this tool (over actually physically visiting each website at a time). Overall: 3 stars. Serves its advertised function, but it really needs something more to compel the active job seeker to actually use this tool. Alert/Notification mechanism is a real benefit. Publisher's description:
