List Engine Description

The List Engine widget provides quick access to short lists and other reference information. That's it. The List Engine reads the data source (list file) but does not allow editing of it. List Engine has the ability to change the way the data is displayed and capture a little bit of extra information about the list (e.g. a title). In future (as time/motivation) permits I (we?) hope to add simple manipulation features such as sorting, grouping, drill through/down, hyperlinks. What "inspired" List Engine development was two particular lists that I continually found myself going to a drawer for or pulling up a hefty spreadsheet (I have little love for spreadsheets). After thinking about it, it seemed perfect for a widget - especially if it could be programmed to go after databases (but that'll have to wait for another version). I think a wiki syntax cheat sheet is gonna be my next List! The List Engine widget enables you to work with list files straight from your desktop.
