SQL Server Release Description

SQL Server Release is aimed at the situation where you are developing software and need to make changes to a database to upgrade it from a current live version to the latest development version. All SQL changes such as extra tables, altered columns, new indexes, changes to stored procedures or triggers etc. can all be kept as SQL files in a release directory. With this tool you can then apply them in bulk. This utility is compiled with Powerbuilder 6.5 and requires the runtime libraries for this product. To use it, alter the relsql.ini file to contain your default server, database, username and password. These values can be overtyped at run time. Run the executable and navigate to the directory containing your SQL files. Double click the files you want to release. This will transfer them from the directory list box to the release box. If you want to move them back then double click them in the release box. When you are happy with your selections then click the "release" button to apply each file in turn to the database. ANY error will abort the release and roll back the changes. The utility drops the connection to the database and reconnects every time you click the "release" button, so you can release some files to a database then change to another database and release the same files to that one too. Get SQL Server Release and give it a try to fully assess its capabilities!
