As the name of this app implies, Shutdown Timer Sidebar Gadget is a Windows gadget that allows you to schedule a shutdown operation on your computer. It can be easily handled, even by first-time users. Since the tool has the GADGET extension, you can directly run it from your desktop without having to install anything. The interface of Shutdown Timer Sidebar Gadget has a small and intuitive layout where you can select the power management function between 'shutdown', 'restart', 'log off', 'lock' and 'suspend'. When it comes to the duration, you can set the app to initialize immediately, after 1 minute, 2 hours and so on. But you can also insert a manual value, in minutes. Unfortunately, Shutdown Timer Sidebar Gadget does not come with a "Settings" area where you can customize preferences. Similar to other gadgets, you can move its window anywhere on the desktop, set it to stay on top of other applications, and adjust its opacity level between 20% and 100%. As expected, the small app puts little strain on the computer's CPU and system memory. It did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs throughout our testing; we have not come across any issues. On the downside, you cannot select a preset to schedule a power management option at a specific time and date.
